Emmy Jewelry Recap

The 2013 Emmy Awards took place this past Sunday, and were, overall, a wholly predictable event. Yes, Neil Patrick Harris was charming, yes the gowns were lovely, and yes the diamonds were sparkly, but it all felt very safe. Sofia in a mermaid gown? Check. Carrie in a diamond necklace so big it comes with it’s own bodyguard? Check.

On the jewelry front, there were several trends that emerged: Emeralds (Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year strikes again), delicate diamond jewelry, and antique and estate jewelry by Fred Leighton reigned supreme on this year’s red carpet.

Green Gardens:

Lorraine Schwartz is apparently THE source for emeralds in Hollywood. If three a trend make, than four looks most definitely mean that Ms. Schwartz – and her emeralds – are here to stay.

Sofia Vergara at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) wears a red Vera Wang gown with platinum jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz worth a cool $7 million. Her earrings alone feature over 100 carats of unheated (!!!) ruby, sapphire, and Colombian emeralds. She follows up with a 21 cttw. Asscher-cut diamond ring, and another 40 carat Colombian emerald set in a ring with rose-cut diamonds. This Colombian beauty definitely represents her home country well!

Maria Menounos at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Maria Menounos also rocked major emeralds by Lorraine Schwartz. Worth over $2.5 million, her jewels included a Colombian emerald and diamond necklace fit for a queen, as well as vibrant Colombian emerald studs and a white diamond cocktail ring.

Sarah Hyland at the 2013 Emmy Awards

More Colombian emeralds – more Lorraine Schwartz! Here Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) pairs her bold green and black lace Carolina Herrera gown with 60 carat Colombian emerald earrings, a carved emerald, black jade and diamond bracelet and a 10 carat emerald and rose cut diamond ring.

Christina Hendricks at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) played up her incredible curves in a black lace Christian Siriano gown and – you guessed it – Lorraine Schwartz emerald jewelry. She wears the designer’s Colombian emerald and diamond chandelier earrings, Colombian emerald bangle, signature Lorraine Schwartz champagne rose cut diamond bangles, diamond and jade bangles and a 35 carat emerald and diamond ring.

Delicate Diamonds:

Best Actress winner Claire Danes (Homeland) pairs her delicate beaded Armani gown with deceivingly simple Neil Lane diamonds. She wears $150,000 diamond and platinum stud earrings, a $1 million baguette-cut diamond and platinum bracelet, and a $350,000 elongated emerald-cut diamond and platinum ring. It takes a lot of money to look this chic!

Carrie Underwood at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Nothing subtle about this! Carrie Underwood wears a prom-like purple Ramona Keveza gown with a one-of-a kind, $18 million 126 cttw. diamond necklace, $3.2 million stud earrings with 14.35 cttw. diamonds, and a $4 million 12.18 ct. pear-shape diamond solitaire ring, all by Johnathon Arndt.

January Jones at the 2013 Emmy Awards

You can usually expect January Jones to hit the red carpet in some sort of high fashion, slightly wacky outfit (case in point: 2010’s peacock dress). Which makes year’s offering all the more refreshing. January is stunning in a feminine dusty rose Givenchy gown, with just enough lace detail. She completes the look with perfect retro waves (inspired by Betty, perhaps) and classy Cartier diamond ear clips.

Julie Bowen at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Julie Bowen (Modern Family) wore a surprisingly structured Zac Posen mermaid gown. Unlike her over-the-top co-star Sofia, Julie kept things simple with understated (but still huge!) diamond studs and a tasteful diamond bracelet, both by Jacob & Co.

Vintage Appeal:

Fred Leighton is another name we heard often on Sunday night. A long time red carpet favorite of Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker, the brand seems to have hit the mainstream in a big way. No fewer than 10 actresses wore Leighton pieces to Sunday’s awards!

Tina Fey at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Tina Fey wore a custom blue Narcisco Rodriguez gown with all types of Fred Leighton jewelry. Her outfit included yellow gold Victorian drop earrings, a 1940’s gold cuff with sapphire and diamonds, a 1920’s platinum bracelet with sapphires and diamonds, and platinum Art Deco ring with sapphires, diamonds, and onyx.

Allison Williams at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Girls star Allison Williams wore a stunningly simple cobalt Ralph Lauren dress with a 19th-century yellow gold ring with pink topaz, a 19th-century yellow gold snake ring, 19th-century earrings in gold with amethyst, and 19th-century Etruscan revival style gold bangle bracelets, all by Fred Leighton.

Anna Faris at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Star of the new sitcom Mom, Anna Faris wears a bright yellow Monique Lhullier gown with Fred Leighton‘s 19th-century gold earrings with pearls, a 19th-century gold bracelet with emeralds, diamonds, and pearls, an antique pinkie ring in gold with diamonds, and a surprise 19th-century emerald silver and gold salamander brooch with diamonds.
