It’s that time of year again. The kiddies are back to school, the first leaves are starting to turn and fall. It’s starting to look and feel like Autumn.
While summertime absolutely my favorite season (here’s to you, fresh tomato), I’m looking forward more and more to the crisp fall days. Not that it hasn’t been unseasonably cool already, but I’m itching to try out my new boots, which I bought on super-sale in May and have been hiding in the back of my closet ever since. Charity races, pumpkin spice lattes, and Sunday football games are also some of my favorite parts of the season.
As days grow shorter, our closets and jewelry boxes tend darken as well. Fall means dusky neutrals and rich jewel tones, and according to Pantone’s annual fashion color forecast, this year will be no different. Based on Pantone’s analysis of the Fall 2013 runways, we’ll see an emphasis on gemmy greens and blues and purples, with some earth tones and cool neutrals mixed in.
The full report details 10 new tones, but here is a look at three of the colors we expect to see the most of during the next few months:
The 2013 Pantone Color of the Year continues its reign into fall. Expect to see darker, more luxurious shades, such as Forest, Malachite, and Moss.
Edwardian Diamond and Emerald Ring
Mod Emerald and Diamond Cluster Ring
No matter what the season, blue is one of the most universally flattering tones. Look for this bold take on sapphire to range all over the spectrum, from steel to classic cobalt to midnight.
Jabel Tanzanite and Diamond Ring
Sapphire and Diamond Wave Ring
Art Deco Star Sapphire and Diamond Brooch
Unheated Sapphire and Diamond Necklace
It wouldn’t be fall without a metallic neutral. This deep, mercurial grey is an interesting and sophisticated alternative to basic black.
